This article provides instructions for installing the Harvia door switch and configuring the control panel settings for remote use of the sauna heater. Applies to products equipped with both Fenix and Xenio control panels.
Please note that the door switch is not suitable for public saunas! When used as a safety device, the door switch requires that remote control is reactivated from the control panel after each sauna session or after each time the door is opened. For professional use, we recommend the SFE safety device.
Wiring
- The door switch may only be connected by a qualified electrician.
- The door switch is connected to the SAFETY and GND terminals on the circuit board, terminals X15 and X16. Separate connectors are included in the package.

Xenio Control panel settings
- If you have a Fenix control panel, skip this step and go to the Fenix control panel settings below.
- Xenio control panel additional setting S - 00 must be in Door mode.
How to enter additional settings in Xenio control panel?
Press the control panel buttons - MENU + simultaneously for 5 seconds until the menu opens. The heater must be turned off (standby mode) when entering additional settings. Please note that the buttons do not glow when the heater is turned off.
How to navigate and make changes in additional settings?
- Press MENU to move to the next setting.
- Use the - or + buttons to change the selected setting, then press MENU to save.
- Press MENU to move to the next setting until the menu closes.

Fenix control panel settings
- Enable Remote use in the control panel settings and select door switch as safety device.
Door sensor installation
It is recommended that the door sensor and its counter magnet are installed facing directly each other as shown below, taking into account the installation distance:
Heater remote use - Xenio control panels
- Activate remote use by pressing the heater button on the control panel for three seconds while the heater is off. Remote use is activated after a 30 second delay. The heater can then be remotely controlled by using the app.
- If the control panel is placed inside the sauna room, the sauna door must be closed within 30 seconds of remote use activation.
Heater remote use - Fenix control panels
- Activate remote use by pressing the door icon on the control panel. Remote use is activated after a 30 second delay. The heater can then be remotely controlled by using the app.
- If the control panel is placed inside the sauna room, the sauna door must be closed within 30 seconds of remote use activation.
Troubleshooting
Cannot activate remote use
- Door is open. Close the door and reactivate the remote use.
- Remote setting is not in Door mode. The default setting is OFF. (Xenio control panels only)
- The door switch is incorrectly connected to the circuit board. Check connections.
Xenio error message: SAFE
- Remote setting is in SAFE mode. Change setting to Door mode.
Xenio error message: Door open / Fenix error icon: Red door icon
- Door is open. Close the door and reactivate the remote use.
- The door switch is incorrectly connected to the circuit board. Check connections.
- The magnet is too far away from the door sensor. Check installation distances.
- The door sensor does not respond to the magnet even if the installation distances are taken into account. The problem usually occurs when the counter magnet is not aligned directly towards the door sensor:
Solution: change the position of the sensor or magnet. See above under Door sensor installation.
